What A Weekend

This weekend rocked. For starters, we finally ended this Winter bullshit and went right into the beginning of summer so it's been sunny and in the 70s the past three days. That probably would have made it a great weekend right there, since my mood on a given day is more or less a direct result of how much sun I've seen, but then a bunch of other stuff happened too.

  • The Red Sox swept the Yankees at Fenway, with a four-run come from behind ninth inning victory in one game and four straight home runs in another. A-Rod grounded weakly to third to end the series. Jonathon Papelbon could run for mayor of Boston and they wouldn't even bother to count the votes.
  • FttP got an offer for another IBM internship, going back to where he was last summer but for more money and with another co-op working under him.
  • Marist College Computer Society held its annual fundraiser, Gaming For Hope. I wasn't planning on going for some reason but I did and I had a great time. We played a spectacular game of Killer Bunnies.
  • I saw Nina in her play and she did a great job. It was one of a group of one-acts written by students. Her friend Phil also wrote two of the plays and they were both very good.
  • We had a barbecue at Sean's and made the best steaks ever. Ever. You had steak this weekend too? Your steak was shit.
  • Seriously, best steak ever.
If this week goes nearly as well as the weekend, I'm going to win the lottery. I won't even have to buy a ticket. Oh and last thing, which doesn't really make the list but was still cool, I ran out of windshield washer fluid recently and just bought a new jug yesterday. The Prius, as it turns out, has a large enough reservoir to hold an entire bottle with room to spare. I know that's hardly mind-blowing, but I know not all cars do that and it's really nice to not have to store a half-full bottle of that stuff somewhere and hope Zipper doesn't get into it.

The Little Things

Two small features that impressed me recently.

When I get text message, I get a notification on my outside screen, and I can use the touch-sensitive buttons on the front to read and then dismiss the message. That's pretty sweet.

I just discovered that when I get a phone call in the car and it turns down the music, it is actually smart enough to check if you're using something that can be paused. If you are, not only does it pause when you get a call, it also rewinds about a second so you don't miss anything. Not an earth-shatteringly amazing feature, but a nice bit of polish.
