Snowned!

So far we've had two winter storms of appreciable size here in Poughkeepsietown. The first one hit basically the entire northeastern United States, so I doubt it's news to anyone that reads this, but I enjoyed that one. That's pretty much the best kind of storm, the one that drops nearly a foot of snow in a day and moves on. No horrific sheets of ice on the road, no frozen rain putting holes in your face, just a crap-ton of snow. Added bonus, the complex has private snow removal crews, and they do a very nice job. We of course have to clean our cars off, but pretty much everything else is taken care of.

Last night's storm was significantly crappier. There was maybe an inch or two of snow and then a bunch of freezing rain, which turned into that gross grainy snow that is almost strong enough to support your weight but instead just makes walking brutally awkward. And it makes a crappy snowball. On the upshot, it showed me how good my car is at defrosting itself. I just turned it on, activated front and rear defrosting, and cleared off Nina's car. By the time hers was done, I just went over and brushed off my entire car. Even the side windows were completely melted clean. Good stuff. I also cleaned off Mr. McDonald's car this time, cuz he's really old. It would take him like half an hour just to get the windshield. So that was my good deed for the day.

And now I have to go, because the Patriots' game is coming up.

This storm snowed me in. I can't get out of our driveway to get to work, not that I'm complaining.

Yea I went to Andrew's to watch the Jets, and it was tricky going at a few spots, especially places where you get more plowing along a main road than the side road, so there's that wall of snow across the mouth of the side road. I also had to dig myself out to leave, cuz the Prius has zero ability to fight its way out of the snow.

I'm thinking the car I buy when I get a real job is going to be an all-wheel-drive car.

Friend of mine up here bought a Subaru like 4 months before I bought the Prius and he likes it very much. He got the Impreza Wagon I think, but as far as I know all Subarus are all-wheel drive.
