The root word it 'tach'. at- is a variant of ad-: a prefix occurring in loanwords from Latin, where it meant “toward” and indicated direction, tendency, or addition. The same thing goes for de-: a prefix occurring in loanwords from Latin (decide); also used to indicate privation, removal, and separation.
So, the extra T comes from the prefix. I blame Mr. Webster and the Latin language.
